“There are so many simple pleasures that allow me to delight in the present moment. In allowing moments of awareness and recognizing that it is a magnificent thing to be alive, regardless of what might be pressing on me, had bought a level of calm that words can’t adequately explain.” Oprah

Oprah puts it so simply and beautifully what awakening is. With the exercise of gratitude, acceptance, compassion and forgiveness we reach a level of wonderful peace with self, others, and the world around.

Yet, awakening of the soul does not guarantee a perfect, bump free life. Life and its circumstances are filled with some funny idiosyncrasy: when everything seems fine and things are moving smoothly, invariably something comes to robe us of our peace, as if to try and see if we can keep our focus, our balance.

These movements can make us lose balance and stumble out of control, forgetting, even if for a moment, of how wonderful it is to be alive.

When we feel the world spinning a little faster than normal, and we see that we are getting sucked into a vortex, swirling around into the nothingness of worries, anxiety, fear and lack of focus, try as you may to think and act like a ballerina.

You see, once we have experienced the awakening of the soul, it is just a matter of time, not a long time at all, until we are reminded of the big picture and, like magic we find a static point to focus our eyes on and, slowly, the spinning subsides or, even if continues, we are no longer at its mercy.

When the world start moving faster than it is comfortable, find time to step out, remind yourself that the only way to stop the dizziness and nausea, is to breathe slowly and deeply, and take a hold of something steady.

Create time to clear your mind with something that gives you joy. Be grateful for all that you have, and soon enough you will feel the harmony and peace of simple pleasures back.
